The Crazy Crab - Harbour Town
About This Spot
Stepping into The Crazy Crab at Harbour Town feels like being welcomed into a lively coastal gathering, where maritime charm meets the rhythm of easygoing island life. The relaxed buzz hums softly through the room and out onto the patio, making it a perfect spot to settle in and lose track of time while the light fades over Hilton Head’s waterfront.
The pace here invites you to slow down and savor the moment, whether you’re nestled inside among warm wood tones and nautical touches or feeling the sea breeze from a seat outdoors. The atmosphere is casual but animated, a joyful crossroads where families, friends, and seafood lovers come together to share stories and plates piled high with the catch of the day.
At the heart of the experience is a menu that feels deeply connected to Lowcountry traditions yet playful enough to surprise. Plates arrive brimming with fresh seafood, from tender crab legs and crispy fried clams to broiled platters rich with local flavor. There’s a comforting familiarity in the She Crab Soup and shrimp & grits, but also bursts of vibrant character found in dishes like Ahi tuna nachos or crab cakes with a smoky chipotle twist.
Drinks follow the same thoughtful path, where a Coastal Bloody Mary or a smooth local beer complements both the bold and delicate tastes of the sea. Desserts, like the tangy Key Lime Pie, offer the right kind of sweet send-off to a meal that feels crafted to be shared and remembered.
More than just the food, it’s the human moments that shape a visit here—the attentive servers who steer you toward favorites, the clinking glasses of neighbors celebrating a sunset, the laughter mingling with the calls of the harbour. The Crazy Crab doesn’t rush its guests, instead inviting them into a space where island life unfolds slowly and simply, with genuine warmth and plenty of fresh seafood to enjoy.

Our food was delicious!! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Thais was a great spot for an early dinner and our waitress Kim had great suggestions. I enjoyed this place so much. A must when in Hilton Head SC.

We really enjoyed sitting on their patio. The food and service was excellent. Great selection on the menu. We enjoyed oysters Rockefeller, ahi tuna nachos, baked crab dip, ahi tuna bowl and seafood platter. All were delicious! I highly recommend.

If you're a seafood fan like myself, then this is the place. Our server, Kim, provided excellent service. She recommended the entrees based on our suggestions, and she was spot on. We started with the Calamari, it was light and flavorful. Then we had The Captain seafood pot with an additional 1/2 lb. of snow crabs. It was just the right amount for two people, but we did wish they were bigger. However, that could have just been the shipment. The snow crab had a delightful sweet flavor that didn't need Old Bay or the blackened seasoning. We had it on the side with lots of butter. The grouper sandwich was more than enough to share. The taste was delicate and appetizing. Overall, we definitely recommend this restaurant and get Kim as your server!

We had a lovely meal at the Crab. The service was exceptional. Food was good. She Crab soup was yummy. Had the crab punch drink was really good. The boiled shimp was perfectly done. My wife loved the Low County Boil. We got to see a nice sunset from our window seat.

Five stars for The Crazy Crab — a coastal madhouse disguised as a family restaurant, perched somewhere between maritime charm and full-blown seafood delirium. I only had a cup of the Low Country Gumbo, but it hit like a warm, seasoned thunderclap — shrimp, sausage, rice, and something else in there that tasted suspiciously like truth. Rich, smoky, dangerous. The kind of gumbo that could make a man believe in redemption, at least until the check arrived. The Rams–49ers game was humming on the bar TVs, and the crowd was locked in — half football fever, half seafood trance. The complimentary hush puppies were criminally good, golden and addictive, the kind of thing that makes you question whether free food should taste that perfect. And that’s when it hit me — that’s what made the crab so crazy. Not madness, but joy. The pure, unfiltered insanity of a place serving gumbo this good, hush puppies this hot, and beer this cold while the game rages on and no one wants to leave. The crab isn’t crazy — it’s enlightened

A great place to try when in Hilton Head. Consistently delicious food, great atmosphere, and the service is phenomenal! They have indoor and outdoor Services depending upon the weather, a sports bar isolated from the main restaurant, and just an all-around good atmosphere.

We had a larger group and The Crazy Crab was able to accommodate us even at a prime dinner time on a Saturday. Please know that to get here you have to pass through a gate into the area and pay $9. It caught us off guard since we were just going to the restaurant. The food was decent. Some of us got the crab legs and raved about them and the fried green tomato appetizer was delicious. I got the crab and lobster stuffed flounder but it was underwhelming and the lobster was actually a small tail on the side. The mashed potatoes were good, but the veggies were slightly undercooked and bland. A friend had the shrimp and grits and said it was ok but not for the price. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and of course being on the harbor was charming. We were able to go out and take sunset pics while we waited for our food.

First time being in Hilton Head. We were there on a Wednesday night and it was pretty busy. Regardless how busy was the service was very well. Our waiter Corey did a good job and he was a nice guy. We had crab legs and calamari for appetizers and they were delicious. Super fresh. The best part was our entrees ( captain platter, sea food broil and the grilled swordfish). Everything was great and we had such a good time! I totally recommend!
